Acne Skin Care
Acne, pimples, zits - call them by any name - they all mean the same ugly inflammation which can negatively affect our confidence and self-esteem.
What Is Acne?
Acne - the technical name for pimples - is a disease affecting the oil glands of the skin. It can occur on the face, chest, shoulders, back and sometimes even the bottoms. They may be a mixture of blackheads, whiteheads and a variety of inflamed lesions, which may be pustles, bumps or larger nodules.
The basic cause of acne is a hormonal imbalance. All of us, of either gender, have both male and female hormones; it is only the proportion of male and female hormones that varies in the two genders. The main hormones that are involved in causing acne are the male hormones called androgens. Androgens make oil glands overactive, thicken the skin and narrow the down or close the oil gland pore. This initially leads to the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. When bacteria, which are normally present on everybody's skin, enter the oil glands, it results in the formation of puns, which can give you either red bumps or pus-filled pimples. When the infecton goes deeper, it can lead to ugly marks, blemishes and scars.
