Natural and Non-Natural Acne Treatments

All of us at a certain point, have been trying to find ways on, how to get rid of acne completely.

Following are the non-natural and natural acne treatments:

  • Witch Hazel Astringent
This astringent comes from the plant called Witch Hazel. Take the twigs of this plant and steam it. The extract you get from it serves as your astringent.
Remember to cool it though. The process it has undergone is all-natural. Compared with commercially produced astringents, it is less harsh.
  • Commercially Produced Astringents
The astringents that are bought over-the counter are effective too. There are many varieties to select from with additional ingredients, which enhance better skin. The negative part is that it can be little harsh due to the chemicals added. They can dry the skin thus; it is advised to use them with extra care.
  • All-Natural Treatments
Explore your kitchen for stuff like oranges and lemons, fresh garlic and raw potatoes. Oranges and lemons just need to be squeezed on cotton balls. Apply the extract on affected areas and wash it after about 20 minutes.
Fresh garlic is effective. Just remove peelings of garlic and rub it on your face.
As for raw potatoes, peel them and rub its flat surface on your face.
The natural extracts from these fruits and vegetables can help to reduce the redness at the same time can clean the skin.
  • Oral Antibiotics
Antibiotics are prescribed for severe cases. These medications are taken orally to reduce the amount of bacteria inside and around skin follicles. They also decrease the annoying chemicals that the white blood cells produce. Finally, antibiotics lessen the concentration of the free fatty acids found in sebum, also creating an anti-inflammatory action. Discuss with your dermatologist for the right antibiotic and dosage.

The most commonly prescribed antibiotic for acne treatment is Tetracycline. Most of this antibiotic should be taken on an empty stomach. pregnant women and children under nine should not use this. Usually, the starting dose is initially 500 milligrams twice daily and is continuously taken until prescribed or until a considerable dropping off of lesions is visible.

Erythromycin is the next antibiotic and can be prescribed to pregnant women. However, it can cause nausea and even upset stomach. Erythromycin has both anti-inflammatory and bacteria-killing properties while tetracycline can only kill bacteria. In addition, this antibiotic needs to be taken in a food-filled stomach. Regarding the effects and side effects of each, you may discuss other possible antibiotics with your doctors.

  • Topical Treatments
Externally applied creams are too proved effective for acne treatment. However, it results in drying and flaking but it is said to be the most effective treatment for severe acne. Benzoyl peroxide is one very common and effective topical acne treatment.
