Facts About Acne
- Acne is the most common during teenage years when the body requires large amounts of hormones in order to grow and to mature from a child to an adult. Nearly 80 per cent of teenagers will get some degree of acne.
- There are 400 to 900 sebaceous (oil) glands per square centimeter on your face, and only 100 glands per square centimeter on your trunk, arms and legs.
- There are some common misconceptions about Acne:
- Acne is a part of growing up and need not be treated.
- Eating oily and spicy foods like pickles aggravates acne.
- Chocolate and cheese lead to breakouts.
- Using strong, drying soaps helps in clearing acne.
- Masturbation increases acne.
All of the above are absolutely false. Remember, acne is basically due to hormones and food has nothing to do with it. Soaps or medications/gels will dry your skin for half an hour to one hour. But this will be followed by double rebound oiliness.
- Remember all anti-acne products must be tested before using the first time. Apply a little on the neck on the first night. Next morning you should have no dryness, redness, itching, flaking or burning.
- Many people thinks that acne is the problem in teenage and let it go its way, but its not true acne can be treated and remember, it's important to treat acne as early as possible to avoid scars and blemishes.
