Avoid Face-lift
Face-lift is the most common form of cosmetic surgery. The operation is not without its risks and could lead to a series of further operations. Don't make a hasty decision
What does it involve exactly?
The surgeon cuts the skin and pulls the superficial muscle tissues upwards and backwards. He then removes the excess skin. The operation is usually performed under a general anesthetic or, some times, under a local anesthetic combined with a high dose of tranquilizers. It lasts between two and a half to four hours and you need to stay in hospital for at least 24 hours. After the operation your face will be swollen, bruised, painful and stiff. If all goes well, your face will heal after about a month. The scares are hidden by your hair and ought to be after two months.
The results
A successful face-lift will make you look ten years younger and will remain noticeable for eight to ten years. After that, you will either have to resign yourself to your appearance or have another lift. If however, it does not work, you will have suffered for nothing and thrown your money away. Also, what's the use of having a smooth face if your hands are spotted and your muscles and breasts are sagging? Remember that youthfulness begins in the head. No face-lift will rejuvenate a woman who has no outside interests and is totally preoccupied by her daily routine.
Some Facts
- The average age for a first face lift is 45-50.
- Plan to take some time off work after the operation: you won't be presentable for around a fortnight!
- Endoscopic face lifting is a smaller operation. It is most suited to more supple and, therefore, younger skins.
