Caring Of Hair

Your body hair is also affected by the hormonal changes. Less oestrogen means more facial hair, whilst the hair on your body trends to disappear.

Spot a hair and remove it
You will need: a magnifying mirror on your bathroom wall (if possible with a lamp nearby), a small magnifying mirror to keep in your handbag and two pairs of good quality tweezers, one for the bathroom, one for your bag. Wage war daily against new ugly black hairs, especially those over the upper lip and on the chin. Don't let anyone else use your tweezers. Your spotty adolescent son squeezing his spots may give you a skin infection.

What about downy hair?
If you have blond or chestnut brown hair and a pale complexion, you might notice more blond down on your face and forearms as you get older. You can remove it with wax but it will grow back more thickly and be more noticeable. It is best just to remove the longest down on the side of your face with tweezers and leave the rest alone.

Some Facts

  • HRT (Hormonal Replacement Therapy) can slow down the growth of facial hair and the loss of public hair.
  • Never use a razor, cream or foam and especially not on the face. They can accelerate hair growth.
