Enjoy the benefits of stretching
You need to stretch to resist the way the bones of the skeleton sink. It is some of the most effective methods of preventing osteoarthritis and maintaining natural, long-lasting suppleness. Ideally, do 2 to 3 minutes of stretching four times a day.
Three exercises to do anywhere
- Keeping your legs apart, breathe in and place your forearms on a surface level with your pelvis. Breathe out, lift your hands, spread your fingers and turn your feet outwards. Move your pelvis from right to left.
- Sit up straight on a stool and hold your hands together behind your back with the palms facing downwards. Look straight ahead of you and lift your hands as high as possible, keeping the bottom of your back straight.
- Sit up straight with outstretched arms, breathe in and put your hands together in front of you. Breathe out, lifting your hands in the air as you do so. Imagine there is a string drawing your head towards the ceiling.
Some Facts
- Start your exercises gently. You risk pulling a muscle if you stretch too far before you have warmed up.
- Take time out twice a day to do some stretching exercises behind your desk.
