Aloe vera
For the last fifty years scientists have tried to find the advantages of application of aloe juice to skin. Except for its medium moisturizing properties, to date there are no definite indisputable advantages that have been found so far.

Arnica
Arnica and its extracts have been widely used in folk medicines. It is used externally for the treatment of acne, boils, bruises, rashes, sprains, pains and wounds.

Calendula
Calendula is said to have immunostimulating as well as antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Chamomile
Teas and extracts of the flower heads have been used as anti-inflammatories as well as anti-allergies.

Evening primrose oil
The main content of evening primrose oil (EPO) is gammalinolenic acid (GLA), which is a good humectant and moisturizer. Hence, it is good for dry skin.

Jojoba
This is said to have antioxidant properties and is supposed to be useful for sunburn and chapped skin in addition to stimulating hair growth.

Propolis
It is a natural product collected from conifer buds and used by honeybees to fill cracks in their hives. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties.

Tea tree oil (Melaleuca)
It has anti-microbial, soothing and healing effects.

Witchhazel
This has drying and astringent qualities and hence is often added to preparations meant for oily skins.
