Types of Skin Cancer
A malignant growth on the skin causes skin cancer. Skin cancer can usually be treated successfully, if detected early enough; however there are cases in which skin cancer has become harmful to the patient and in some cases even caused death. Types of skin cancer:
Basal Cell Carcinoma:
One of the most common types of skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma. This cancer is responsible for more than 90% of the cases of skin cancer in North America. This can be the most dangerous among all types of skin cancer. It usually appears as a pink or white pearly bump or as an irritated patch. This type of skin cancer grows slowly and rarely spreads.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma :
The squamous cell carcinoma cancer is less common. This is one of the most unsafe types of skin cancer because it can spread to vital organs in the body, and thus needs to be detected and treated immediately. Of all the different types of skin cancer, this is certainly one that you need to watch out for. It may appear as a raised pink bump or scaly patch with an open sore in the center.
Malignant Melanoma :
The malignant melanoma is a very popular type of skin cancer. This is the most serious type of skin cancer of all, because it can spread to the internal organs and cause death.
This type of cancer begins in the melanocytes, which produce dark protective pigments. These are spread throughout the lower part of the epidermis.
Such are the mainly common different types of skin cancer, that you can develop and which you will want to watch out for, but then at the same time you also need to educate yourself on the rare types of skin cancer, though these are not that dangerous.
There are various steps that you can take to stop yourself from developing skin cancer. These are like eating right and exercising, and of course protecting your skin with various skin care products when you go outdoors.
