Skin Care for Summer

During the summer, your skin is directly exposed to the sunrays. These rays send out the ultraviolet radiation, which can have negative effects on the skin and can cause serious damage to the skin, which may lead to cancer. Therefore, summer is the season when you have to take special care of the skin.

The safest time to be out in the sun is the early morning. The worst time is the period between 12 pm and 2 pm. You must cover your body completely before going out to protect yourself from the scorching heat. Along with applying sunscreen, wear a sun hat, sun blocking lip balm and sunglasses to avoid facial exposure to the sun.

Though it is a well known fact that human body needs six to eight glasses of water a day, the requirement is much more during summer, to replace the fluids lost during perspiration. Drinking plenty of water is very necessary, as it helps in flushing out the toxins and makes your skin healthy. This is a good solution not only for your skin but also for the whole body.

Regular massages with essential oils such as Lavender, Sweet Orange and Grapefruit, in a coconut oil base, will have a cooling effect and purifies the skin. It is suitable for most of the sensitive skins. Massages could be followed by a warm not hot bath by adding rose buds or lavender to the water for a cooling effect.

In summer, the skin either loses lots of oil or become extensively dry. Dry skin often needs to be moisturized. Thus, it is necessary to moisture the skin twice daily, as in summer, our skin loses its moisture. Use a moisturizer, which has ultraviolet protection coverage. There are many moisturizing products available in the market. But chose the one which suits your skin the best. There are two main types of moisturizers mainly liquid moisturizers and cream moisturizers. The liquid moisturizer is good for less dry skin or for summer care. As the skin, condition tends to have problems with oily skin.

You can also try some home remedies such as:

  • Apply some Aloe vera gel on your face for about 15 minutes before going for a bath and 15 minutes before you go to sleep. This gel radiates your skin and helps to recover the lost moisture of your skin.
  • Apply cucumber juice mixed with some drops of lemon juice, which softens your skin and improves your skin tone.
  • Apply crushed papaya on your skin .Leave it for around 20 minutes. Then wash off your face without using any soap.

Follow some of these steps during summers:

  • Use sun cream when you go in sunlight as it will protect your skin from tanning.
  • Drink plenty of water daily during summers.
  • Wear light color of clothes.
  • Use scrub twice a week.
  • Do some exercises daily at least for 5 minutes as it nourishes the skin and complexion from inside.
  • Take bath twice in summer.
  • Eat vegetables, which have plenty of water in them.
  • Get your face massaged at least once in 10 days.

People with dry sensitive skin may notice that sun causes more dryness and irritation. In such a case, you can use herbal infusions instead of tap water when cleansing your skin.

Cold water is an excellent skin toner for summer. In the morning, apply fresh squeezed fruit or berry juice all over your face and neck. Wash your face with cold water.

Fruit masks are another easy summer treatment. Use can use it daily, if you do not have allergies. Active ingredients in fruits will freshen and clean your skin. Use fresh fruits and berries and make just enough juice or mixture for one application.

There are few mineral make up in the market, which makes the skin look glowy, so if you have oily skin, use it less, especially in the summer.
