Causes of skin moles
Moles occur due to concentration of pigmented cells (melanin). A melanin which is responsible for color of your skin, is produced in cells called melanocytes, either in the top layer of the skin called epidermis or the outer layers of the skin's second layer dermis. Melanin is then transported to the surface cells. Generally, melanin is distributed evenly over your body, but sometimes melanocytes grow together in a cluster, causing moles.

Ultraviolet rays from sunlight or from tanning lamps/beds can affect your skin. A more exposure to UV rays can lead to skin cancer. UV rays can change certain skin growths into cancers. People with fair skin have great risk as they have more sun-sensitive skin. To avoid such a deadly harm makes use of a good sunscreen lotion.

While anybody doesn't know why moles develop or what purpose they serve. Generally most of the moles are harmless, while moles called melanoma can lead to cancer. Melanoma requires a special care and should be checked properly from doctors. Generally moles occur on the back, arms, abdomen, chest and legs in women.
