Life Threatening Skin Rashes

• Pemphigus Vulgaris (PV):
  It is a disorder of the immune system (an autoimmune disorder). In this disorder the body's natural immune system supposes the proteins within the body as foreign intruder and begins the natural response to get rid of these foreign proteins producing antibodies to attack them.

• Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS):
  The exact cause of Stevens-Johnson syndrome rash is unknown, but it is considered that it is due to a severe type of allergic reaction to certain medications or infections or due to viral infection.

• Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN):
  It is considered to be a severe form of SJS.

• Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS):
  It is caused by infection with specific Staphylococcus bacteria. Other infections include superficial skin infections; infections after delivering a baby, surgical wound infections, or infected nasal packing after nasal surgery or nosebleeds. These bacteria produce poisons that are released into the bloodstream and cause disease throughout the body.

• Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome (SSS):
  It is similar to TSS. It occurs in children's, caused by infection with a different type of Staphylococcus bacteria (staph infections). Same as TSS these bacteria also produce a poison that is released into the bloodstream and causes the typical rash seen in SSS
