If you have got oily skin, you have got to walk the delicate tightrope of controlling excess oiliness without stripping your skin of oils completely. But the pros of having oily skin is that it ages more gracefully and doesn't wrinkle as easily as dry skin.

Do's And Don'ts For Oily Skin

Do's

  • Use a mild liquid cleanser, preferably a foaming one, formulated for oily skin in the morning and before bed.
  • Use alcohol-free toners sparingly, if it all.
  • Choose an oil-free, light moisturizer, if necessary.
  • Use oil-blotting or oil-free foundation and powder.
  • Use oil-free sunscreens.

Don'ts

  • Over-dry your skin. Oil is a natural defense against the elements.
  • Use harsh drying soaps or products. This will lead to rebound oiliness that will be more than the original oiliness.
  • Cleanse more that two times a day (three if you exercise).
  • Be an astringent junkie.
  • Use moisturizer if you don't need it.
  • Overuse powder to mop up oil; your skin will look chalky.

Home remedies for oily skin

  • Home Remedy - 1
    • Make a puree of fresh tomatoes.
    • apply to the skin.

  • Home Remedy - 2
    • Combine 1 egg white, 1-teaspoon spirits of camphor, 1 heaping Tablespoon skim milk powder and a scant drop of essential oil of mint.
    • First apply a thin film of odorless castor oil to the skin and then apply a thick layer of the egg white mask.
    • Lie back for about 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.
    • Finally, rinse with an apple cider vinegar and water solution or witch hazel.

    • Take a paste of cucumber, chill it in the fridge.
    • Apply it on the face and relax for 15 minutes.
    • Wash off with cold water.
